Undergraduate Research Assistant @ NYU Composite Materials and Mechanics Laboratory
Project type
Research
Date
March 2026
Location
New York City
As an undergraduate researcher in the Composite Materials and Mechanics Laboratory (CMML), I conducted experimental research focused on additively manufactured aluminum components and the relationship between material microstructure and mechanical performance. My work involved investigating how grain boundary formation and manufacturing parameters influence the structural behavior and properties of metal additive manufacturing processes.
My responsibilities included preparing metallographic samples through precision sectioning, polishing, and material characterization techniques to analyze microstructural features and evaluate structure-property relationships. I also assisted in documenting experimental procedures, organizing research data, and supporting ongoing laboratory investigations related to advanced manufacturing and materials engineering.
